The finger command may be useful in figuring out people’s e-mail addresses. However, her login name might instead be mjones, or mary, or various other things. For a user on another computer, you need to follow their login name by and a specification of where they are.įor other people at U of T, you may be able to specify where they are with a single word, such as “cs” for people in the Dept. For another user on utstat, this can be just their login name. To send someone e-mail, you need to know their address. Thus, all e-mail should now be read on fisher. NOTE: E-mail has been moved from the old utstat computer to fisher. Several programs are available that let you exchange electronic mail with other users on Utstat, or elsewhere in the world, as long as you know their e-mail addresses.
